Mikayla works with clients of all ages experiencing depression, relationships, life transitions, and other difficulties. Her background experience includes work with at-risk youth, survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence, acute psychiatric patients, and community organizing. She has a passion for individuals from religious and spiritual backgrounds who value integrating spirituality into therapy. She has also developed a special interest in working with individuals struggling to cope with trauma, including loved ones of those with substance use disorders. In working with kids ages 5-10, Mikayla specializes in play therapy and family systems therapy. She works with kids experiencing depression, anxiety, and trauma.
Mikayla’s approach is humanistic and experiential, focusing on exploring who her clients are, who they want to be, and how they want to get there. She balances a warm, nondirective style with compassionate directness, challenging clients to grow beyond their comfort zone. Mikayla considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients in their therapeutic journey. She believes therapy can be healing for anyone who puts in the work. In her office, Mikayla creates a safe environment that is warm and inviting; all clients are seen, heard, and unconditionally accepted.
In her spare time, Mikayla enjoys cooking, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and connecting with others over high-quality coffee.
