Kate is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC). With her years of working as a therapist, Kate has been able to work with many different clients with various presenting concerns. Kate is passionate about connecting with adolescents and continuously receives positive feedback and referrals for her work with this population. Kate has extensive experience running therapy groups and workshops for adolescents which is incorporated into her work at Fox Clinical Services.

Having obtained her Master’s degree in a marriage and family therapy program, practicing couples therapy remains a specialization for Kate. She has received extensive training on the Gottman Method and frequently incorporates this into her sessions. In addition to applying this model in session, Kate enjoys training other professionals on the Gottman method. Please see more about the Gottman approach on our website.

In addition to working with couples and adolescents, Kate has experience, knowledge, and interest in working with many different populations and clinical presentations. The following are her areas of experience and particular interest:

  • Pre-Adolescents, Adolescents, and Young Adults

  • Family therapy

  • Couples Therapy

  • Anxiety

  • School anxiety, resistance, and refusal

  • Depression

  • OCD

  • PTSD

  • Divorce

  • Parenting Assistance

  • LGBTQ

  • Life Cycle Transitions (such as transition to college, being "on your own", marriage, empty nest, parenthood, care-taking, etc.)

  • Grief and Loss

Kate has a friendly, warm vibe and values creating a comfortable atmosphere, sometimes using humor when appropriate as well music, art, or play. The joining (or rapport building) stage of therapy is important to Kate, as she knows if her client is not comfortable then it will be difficult to have a successful therapeutic relationship. Kate takes an eclectic approach and pulls from various therapeutic models that will serve her clients best. Some models include CBT, structural family therapy, person-centered, choice theory, DBT, psychodynamic, Adlerian, Gottman, and EFT.

Kate obtained her Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Adler University. Prior, she received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Elmhurst College, with a minor in Spanish.
